Garden parties are becoming more and more popular throughout the U.K and they just get better and better. After 6 months of wind, rain, sleet, snow, fog and frost, the sun comes out with a smile and everyone just feels so relieved that they want to throw a garden party.
Maybe that’s the simple explanation for the amount of garden parties which are planned each year. Perhaps there’s a correlation with the economy recovering in the last few years; maybe there are other factors and I would be happy to hear your views on this. As a steel drum band, we have noticed an increase in bookings for garden parties and it’s not just our band, but many other bands and musicians that I know are covering more garden parties.
Typically, most our clients are hosting garden parties in areas like Kensington, Chelsea, Holland Park, Notting Hill and always looking to hire a band for a garden party or at least some background music while they enjoy drinks. Space is usually very tight for a “Band” to set up, but we have a solution which works effectively for all the parties that we cover.
In the U.K, people take pride in having a well presented garden and perhaps there is no better way to show it off than to host a small party. In the photo below, the client has taken things a little further by building a bandstand in their garden. As you can see in the background, this was not in central London, but in a more rural area.
If you need some inspiration for having a really amazing garden party, just have a look at these images on a pin board which I have created.
In the corporate sector, many of our clients have decorated their terraces with lovely plants for the purpose of hosting parties. There are also many new buildings in central London which include either a roof terrace or a sky garden as part of the planning. We cover lots of corporate summer parties and many of them are like family fun days while others are like team building events where they have activities and then a buffet treat with our band performing.
In central London, the are many open spaces which are hired by companies for corporate drinks parties and summer garden parties. It is almost a trendy thing for companies to arrange a summer garden party as an opportunity to network with potential clients and the ones which we have covered involve 3 or 4 service providers for things like marquee hire, catering, caricaturist and live music in the background.
Right now, there are many tweets about garden parties and I would love to see the official stats to see how popular the idea has become in 2015.
If you work in London, ask your colleagues if they would like to arrange a garden party and do a search for venues which host garden parties.
If you have left it late and they are mostly booked in central London, you can try venues like the one above at Lillibrooke Manor which is just outside London. If you are having the party during the week, then my band may still have some availability.
Booking is easy, just send an inquiry and expect a prompt response in your Inbox. More important, you can expect to enjoy some of the best steel band music in London performed in the background as you enjoy your garden party.
